New Years Resolutions

One of my goals for next year is to participate in the so Shelli creative challenge every month and what better way to start a goal then to start it early right? Well this month the challenge was to share neighbor gift ideas and here are some gifts that I gave this year.
This first project is an altered notepad with a pen attached. My best friend wanted to make some of these for neighbor gifts and I had so much fun making them with her I decided to make some to give away.
We started with a 5 x 8 inch pad of paper, cut it in half length wise and decorated it. We used some of my favorite retired paper, along with a flower we made using the baskets and blooms bigshot die. The big flower is made out of chipboard and the smaller flower is cut out of felt and attached with a pop-up glue dot. (sorry the picture is so dark, I am still learning how to use my new camera)
I have learned that when covering a notebook with paper you want to use sticky strip to make sure it stays put. Here is a picture of the back, you can see the magnet. (I love having a notepad on my fridge)
This is how I attached the pen. Just loop the ribbon around a pen and put a piece of sticky strip between the ribbon ends, then use another piece to attach it to your notepad.
My mom was so surprised that I found pens to match...... I think she was more surprised when I told her I just slipped a small piece of DSP inside the pen and decorated it myself :)
Here is how I packaged it, just a celo bag and a cute tag. This tag was running sprints this christmas season, I used it a lot! I love giving gifts to my kids teachers and this is the gift they gave their primary teachers at church. I can't take credit for this gift either, my mom came over with the pistacios all ready for me to help her make them look pretty for her neighbors :) Happy New Year everyone!

Teacher Treats

Ok I know that Thanksgiving is over but I wanted to show you these adorable turkeys that my boys made for their school teachers. To see mine click here.

This First turkey was made by my 3 1/2 year old and he is totally my favorite. I love his face :) (edit - ok I just read this and I laughed I meant that I love this turkey the best. I don't have a favorite child :) This turkey was made by my 6 year old. It actually looks super close to the ones I made... (sorry it is blurry - I can't take another picture - he gave it to his teacher over a week ago)
I love when I find time to make things with my kids.

Sweet Sunflower

I LOVE the sweet treat cups! This card is one that we made at a class this month. But the ones the ladies made was cuter because we used the sunflower seeds that were still in the shell. Maybe I will make another one someday... To make the flower I just used the scallop 2 die and snipped each petal.

A couple of things I did on this card that are hard to see in the picture:

I sponged Soft Suede ink onto the night and day DSP to blend in with the card a little better.

I was also afraid the greasy sunflower seeds would ruin my card so I punched a circle out of the window sheets and put it behind the sweet treats cup, so far it has worked great!

Good Night

When I saw this card I decided it was time to dust off my brayer and make one myself. This is a one layer card, I don't make many of them but sometimes they can look really cool.

a little bit of paper...

Do you recognize this box? This is the box the sweet treats cups come in. It starts as an awesome glossy white so I just added some DSP to each side. With a bit of ribbon and a tag it totally transformes it.

Shimmering Snowflakes

One of my new favorite things in the Holiday Mini Catalog is the shimmer paint. My friend taught me how to create a spray to make shimmer paper! I loved it so much I wanted to make some snowflakes shine. I know you can't see it in the pictures but in real life these snowflakes (and the corduroy button) are really sparkly.
Where did I put these snow flakes? I made a fun winter album with them. This is a waterfall scrapbook. When you pull the tab on the right the pages flip over! These books are too much fun! This book is a couple inches smaller than others I have made. I just changed up the dimensions. Here are some pictures of the inside pages.
In this last picture you can see most of the hidden page all ready for a photo.
I wish you could see the shine but you will just have to try it yourself :) If you would like me to teach you just let me know!

Fleurette Flower

I LOVE Fleurettes!!! what are they you may ask, they are the awesome crocheted flowers in the catalog. They come white so you can dye them any color using re-inkers. For this card I dyed the double flower with pale plum ink to create the focal point on this card.

Turkey Treats

I LOVE the sweet treats cups, they are SO much fun! Here is a turkey I made, I copied the general idea but a few of the ideas were mine :) I used the to the Nines DSP, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard and Dusty Durango. The turkey feathers are made with the Scallop Die for the Big shot and everything else was punches! Here is a side view, look at all that candy (I picked out all the brown M&M's from the bag :)

Wandering Words

Here are 3 cards I made with the stamp set Wandering Words. This first one I made using the Santa Image. I colored the image with markers to create the multi colored effect.
This Next card I embossed the image on DSP (I love the effect this creates) using craft ink and clear embossing powder.
The leaf and top note were cut from the big shot.
I love the shimmer on this last card. I used a build a brad and after punching out the white circle and heart I sealed it with crystal effects to give it a different look.
I also added a little bit of glitter to 5 of the hearts.

This stamp set is in the Holiday Mini Catalog and I LOVE it! I plan on using it a lot!

Pretties

It has been a long time since I used my pretties kit (I tend to hoard it) so I made a card using one of the flowers. I usually color the flowers I use but this time I just left it white. For the center of the flower I just punched out a 1 inch circle from DSP and layered a circle clear button on top.

To create the curtain bottom I just used a strip of DSP that was 12 inches long and scored it randomly and accordian foldeded it before attaching.

BOO Banner

I LOVE decorating for Halloween, have I already said that :) I hung this up on my bare wall above my computer. I am excited to look at it every day! My fabulous upline Brandi desinged this and we made it at her downline meeting last week. My favorite part by far is the glittered letters. We cut them out using the big shot and then glittered them up. The large scallop circles and pennants were made using the same die! LOVE that.

Pumpkin Punches

I made a few different pumpkins using punches. Which one is your favorite?

This one I used the Scallop Circle punch. I adhered it to the green circle using a pop-up glue dot.
This second one is probably my favorite :) I used the tab punch for this one.
This Last one I made a very small box to attach it to. I just punched out some ovals and sponged the edges before putting it together. Here is a side view of the box. I just took a piece of ribbon and attached it with brads. I LOVE how the colors from Stampin' Up! Match perfectly!

Halloween Pages

I love decorating for Halloween and this year I have been making things with purple instead of orange (my husband thinks I am crazy.) So to go with my theme, here are the club pages I made for this month.
This 12 x 12 layout was so much fun to make, I LOVED stenciling my background. For the title I used the awesome Go Go Boots Big Shot Alphabet and numbers along with the Night and Day Designer Series Paper that is in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Witches Shoe

This shoe was SO fun to make, I found the pattern online so all I had to do was to cut it out and adhere it together with sticky strip. I used the Night and Day DSP and Perfect Plum CS for the liner. To Create the buckle on the top I just punched out a piece of the brushed silver cardstock with the Modern Label and Slit punches. Let me know if you have any questions!

Halloween Club Card

This is the card my club ladies made this month. We used the Adornment stencil and white craft ink to create the background. We also made a scrapbook page to match that I will post in a couple of days!

Halloween Magazine Card Holder

I had a bunch of these cards left over from the fair so I decided to make a set to go inside a fun magazine holder. I love how the scary skeleton is peeking outside.
This week I will be posting a lot of Halloween ideas so come back and visit me soon!

Birthday fold-out cards

I am having a lot of fun playing with this stamp set. It is called look who's turning. Here are a few I made last month. This first one we made at our downline meeting last night.
The next two are super similar, I just kept changing it until I liked it, ahh the power of dotto!!!
I definitely like the hippo better than the octopus but thought I would share both.
